Sue has fought Republicans and powerful political insiders her entire career to deliver results for the working people of New Jersey.
Most recently as Senator Andy Kim’s State Director, Sue saw firsthand the chaos and cruelty of the Trump administration. Corporations and billionaires are buying access to the most corrupt administration in American history, while working people struggle to make ends meet. From masked men terrorizing immigrants and executing American citizens in the streets, to the decimation of our small businesses, cuts to the Gateway Tunnel, soaring cost of living, weaponization of law enforcement against political enemies, mass layoffs of civil servants, and the gutting of public agencies and higher education, Sue has been on the frontlines of the fight to defend New Jerseyans against the Trump administration.
As Executive Director of the New Jersey Working Families Party, Sue spent years fighting the waste of taxpayer dollars in Trenton – taking on both parties to put New Jersey families ahead of partisan politics. When she led a broad coalition of unions, advocates, and community members to expose a $1 billion tax break for crooked insurance companies and corporate donors, corrupt party bosses had state troopers drag her out of a hearing on the bill to silence her. And, under her leadership, Working Families began the lawsuit to abolish the County Line and strengthen New Jersey’s democratic process.
Sue has also been a leader in the movement to strengthen New Jersey’s public education, standing up to Governor Chris Christie when he was attacking teachers and defunding our public schools.
Sue knows better than most that we can’t rely on the same D.C. playbook that got us here won’t save us from this mess. We must beat Trump – with a fierce urgency. But in order to keep Trumpism at bay, we cannot go back to the status quo. We have to rebuild our party, our government, and our country with a vision that both unifies and proves our government can, in fact, deliver for people – and that’s why Sue is running for Congress in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District.
After the past year, Sue knew she had to do more to stop Trump and end the rampant corruption and corporate greed in Washington. We must pass Medicare for All and ensure everyone has the healthcare they need, abolish ICE and hold this administration accountable for their crimes, atop Trump and his billionaire cronies from rigging our economy and raising costs for working people.
